Operation HADIN KAI has foiled multiple coordinated ISWAP infiltration attempts across Borno State, reinforcing efforts to deny terrorists access to Maiduguri and surrounding communities through sustained counterterrorism operations.
In a statement, the Acting Military Information Officer of Headquarters Joint Task Force (Northeast) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the attacks occurred between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Friday, targeting Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari Cross axis in an apparent attempt to infiltrate Maiduguri.
He said troops, supported by early warning systems, detected the insurgents and engaged them with effective firepower, forcing them to retreat before they could breach the city.
The statement added that troops also repelled separate infiltration attempts at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai. During the pursuit at Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), but no casualties were recorded.
According to the Theatre Command, the swift response forced the terrorists into a disorderly retreat across all attack routes. Troops are continuing clearance operations to track fleeing insurgents, consolidate gains and prevent further threats to nearby communities.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive intelligence, rapid response and area domination, while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to support ongoing military operations.
