Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested four suspected terrorist collaborators during separate intelligence-led operations in Yobe and Borno states.
The troops also intercepted 20 suspected family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) fighters fleeing terrorist enclaves as sustained military offensives continue across the North-East.
In a statement, the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said “troops of the 159 Battalion arrested two of the suspects during a cordon-and-search operation in Geidam, Yobe State, following credible intelligence.”
According to him, the suspects were allegedly supplying hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram terrorists.
Items recovered from the operation included; suspected cannabis, mobile phones, power banks, knives, torch lights, Pregabalin capsules, cough syrup, ATM cards, identification documents and cash.
“The recovered items indicate an established support structure rather than isolated criminal activity,” Goni said.
In a related operation, troops of Sector 3 Garrison and the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion arrested two suspected logistics suppliers around Monguno, Borno State.
The suspects allegedly admitted transporting food and other essential supplies to ISWAP fighters operating around Kwatan Dowoshi Village in Kukawa Local Government Area.
Troops recovered food items, communication devices, headlamps, soap and cash believed to support insurgent activities.Goni, said that troops of the 222 Battalion also intercepted 20 suspected family members of JAS fighters along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area.
The group, made up of women, men and children, reportedly fled terrorist hideouts following intensified military operations.
They have been handed over to military intelligence personnel for profiling and further assessment in line with standard procedures.
