The Nigerian Government has congratulated Dr. András Baka on his election as Hungary’s new President, highlighting his judicial experience and dedication to the rule of law as key qualities for his new role.
In a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Minister, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, conveyed Nigeria’s congratulations to Dr. Baka on behalf of the Nigerian Government.
Nigeria also commended the Hungarian National Assembly for the successful conclusion of the presidential election and wished the President-elect a successful tenure as he prepares to assume office.
The Federal Government highlighted Dr. Baka’s distinguished career in the Hungarian and international judiciary, including his service as President of Hungary’s Supreme Court and as a Judge of the European Court of Human Rights.
According to the statement, his extensive judicial experience and commitment to the rule of law, constitutional governance, and institutional independence would be valuable in discharging his responsibilities as Hungary’s Head of State.

“The Government of Nigeria is confident that, under President-elect Baka’s leadership, Hungary will continue to advance democratic values, the rule of law, institutional stability and national unity, while strengthening its constructive engagement with the international community.”
The Nigerian Government further reaffirmed its commitment to the longstanding and cordial relations between Nigeria and Hungary.
It expressed its readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with Hungary in areas of mutual interest, including political and diplomatic relations, trade and investment, education, culture, science and technology, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
The Federal Government wished Dr. Baka a successful tenure in office and assured the Government and people of Hungary of Nigeria’s continued friendship and commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and understanding.
