Kwara Governor Declares Work-Free Day for Teachers

The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to commemorate this year’s World Teachers’ Day.

The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola.

According to the statement, the work-free day coincides with the October 5 observance of World Teachers’ Day, providing teachers across the state an opportunity to mark the occasion.

AbdulRazaq commended teachers across Kwara for their contributions to human capital development, particularly their efforts in educating and preparing younger generations for the future.

The Governor also acknowledged the resilience of teachers in the discharge of their responsibilities and appreciated their continued commitment to the development of the state.

“His Excellency extends his best wishes to teachers across the length and breadth of the state whose contributions to human capital development is acknowledged at all times. He thanks our teachers for their efforts and resilience,” Agboola said.

The Governor said the gesture underscores the importance his administration attaches to the teaching profession and the role of teachers in driving educational development across Kwara State.

He urged teachers to continue to uphold professionalism, dedication and commitment to their duties, while assuring them of the government’s continued support in creating an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.

AbdulRazaq further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of teachers and the wellbeing of every Kwara citizen.

He wished teachers a memorable World Teachers’ Day celebration and expressed optimism that their contributions would continue to produce positive outcomes in the education sector and contribute to the overall development of Kwara State.

World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5 to recognise the contributions of teachers to education and society. The 2026 observance falls on Monday, October 5.

The Governor wished all teachers in Kwara State “more rewarding and prosperous service to humanity” as they continue to contribute to the development of the state through education.
