MINILS Hails Inclusive APC-Tinubu Campaign Council

The Director General, Micheal Imoudu National Institute for Labour studies (MINILS) Ilorin, Issa Aremu has commended the inclusion and retention of Labour, women, youth and People Living with Disabilities (PLD) directorates in the APC/ Tinubu 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, Comrade Aremu who also serves as the Deputy Director of the Labour/ Union relations of the 2027 Presidential Campaign council (PCC) said Labour inclusion is “as much a validation of progressive politics as well as commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Decent work agenda as recommended by International Labour Organization (ILO) “ 

The Director General said while geographical representation and regional balance are significant for presidential campaign, workers, women and youth in their millions are also critical voters in a democracy; adding that labour issues with respect to secured employment, living wages and pension payments will shape 2027 elections.

Aremu hailed the appointment of Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbu state as the Director of the Labour/ Union Relations of the Presidential Campaign Council.

He said Nasir Idris, who was also a former National President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress has recorded commendable achievements in kebbi State with respect to industrial harmony made possible by his prompt salary and pension payments, abolition of casualisation and worker-friendly reforms, which eminently position him “to engage organised Labour on the labour record of Tinubu administration”.

Aremu also congratulated Senator Abdulaziz Yari, former Governor of Zamfara State, Hope Uzodimma, on their appointments as Director-General and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election respectively.

He said with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as Head of Mobilisation, James Abiodun Faleke, appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, the 2027 elections will be “about policy issues of governance and nothing more “

The official announcement signed by Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy) confirms that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Campaign Council respectively, while Senator Yari will provide overall leadership as Director-General.
