President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Iran will reciprocate immediately if the United States returns to its commitments under a June interim deal.
Pezeshkian disclosed this at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek.
“If the US returns to its commitments under the Memorandum of Understanding, the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately reciprocate,” Pezeshkian said.
His remarks follow the first direct exchange of attacks between the US and Iran since late July, with the US striking Larak Island and Iran retaliating against two US air bases in Jordan.

The June deal which aimed at ending the war that began with US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, quickly unravelled over implementation disputes.
Tehran has said it will allow free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route, only if Washington implements the agreement’s terms.
Pezeshkian said war served no one’s interest and Tehran remained open to a negotiated solution.
US President Donald Trump said “there will be a response” to the Iranian attacks but told reporters the renewed strikes did not signal a return to full-scale war.
