The lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, Mr Ugochinyere, has expanded electricity infrastructure to seven communities under an initiative aimed at improving power supply across the constituency.
The latest phase of the intervention includes the installation of 500KVA transformers, electricity cables and other electrical components in Ogwume, Dikenafai and Akpulu communities.
Installation has been completed in Akpulu, while work is ongoing in Ogwume and Dikenafai.
The development brings to seven the number of communities covered by the lawmaker’s Operation Light Up Ideato project across Ideato North and South.
Earlier installations were carried out in Umuopia, Obodoukwu, Abukwa and Umukegwu communities.
Mr Ugochinyere, who chairs the House Committee on Downstream Petroleum Resources, said; “the intervention would be extended to other communities requiring electricity infrastructure.”
He said; “the objective was to improve access to electricity and address infrastructure gaps affecting communities across the constituency.”
His media office said additional transformers would be supplied and installed in other communities as the project progresses.
