First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has fulfilled her pledge of N5 million to beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Agricultural Support Programme in Anambra State.
The pledge followed an expression of support for President Bola Tinubu and his administration by the beneficiaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The N5 million, received from the First Lady by the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, was disbursed in cash to the beneficiaries during a brief meeting at the Light House in Awka.
The beneficiaries appreciated the First Lady for the gesture and Mrs Soludo for facilitating the disbursement, promising to use the money judiciously to strengthen their businesses.
Mrs Soludo disclosed this in a statement issued by her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, on Monday.
According to her, “the donation followed the warm reception accorded the First Lady by beneficiaries of last year’s RHI Agricultural Support Programme during her visit to Anambra State last Thursday.”
The beneficiaries had, during the visit, presented a token of support for President Tinubu and his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She said Mrs Tinubu described the gesture as unprecedented and decided to reciprocate by supporting the beneficiaries with N5 million.
Mrs Soludo said the First Lady’s decision followed the warm reception she received from the beneficiaries.
She said; “Following the warm reception she received from beneficiaries of last year’s ‘Renewed Hope Initiative Agricultural Support Programme’ during her visit to Anambra State, the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has gifted them N5 million to further support and strengthen their businesses.
“The beneficiaries had, during her official visit to Anambra last Thursday, presented a token of support for the President and his administration ahead of 2027.”
The RHI Agricultural Support Programme is aimed at supporting vulnerable households and improving access to nutritious food, particularly among nursing mothers and people facing food insecurity.
Mrs Soludo described the donation as another reminder of the value of kindness and appreciation, while thanking the First Lady for the gesture.
The development comes amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the beneficiaries’ expression of support for the President forming part of the circumstances surrounding the First Lady’s pledge.
