Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her interventions aimed at supporting women, children and youths in Anambra State under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Soludo made the commendation in Awka during an empowerment programme where 5,000 people received equipment and other inputs to improve their livelihoods.
The beneficiaries received barbing and hairdressing equipment, sewing and weaving machines, fish fingerlings and fish-rearing equipment, as well as pigs and goats for livestock farming.
The governor’s wife also praised the First Lady for empowering 500 women in Anambra and establishing a food bank for women, children and vulnerable families in the state and the Southeast.

She said the food bank programme would help reduce hunger and malnutrition among children below the age of six to the barest minimum.
Primary Health Care Centre
Soludo urged mothers, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, to register at the nearest Primary Health Centre to access available healthcare services.
She also thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his support towards the empowerment programme and pledged to introduce more programmes aimed at promoting healthy living in Anambra.
Major Intervention
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Bernard Doro, described the establishment of food banks across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, including Anambra, as a major intervention in addressing hunger and malnutrition.
Doro said the programme would also strengthen local agriculture by creating a ready market for farmers from whom food supplies would be sourced.
In separate goodwill messages, the Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Dr Oladipo Olusi, and the Managing Director of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr Muyi Aina, commended the First Lady for programmes aimed at improving livelihoods across the country.
They pledged to support the food bank programme by ensuring the availability of funds and the judicious management of resources allocated to sustain it.
