A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso has expressed confidence that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu would win a second term in 2027.
Kwankwaso, who is also the Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority stated this at the APC Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday.
He said the presence and participation of politicians from different political parties at the event demonstrated what he described as growing acceptance of President Tinubu’s leadership beyond the APC.

- According to him, ”representatives and supporters associated with parties such as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Labour Party, among others, had demonstrated their support for the President’s continued leadership.”
Kwankwaso also pointed to comments attributed to prominent political figures, including the Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, arguing that the President’s economic agenda would be better appreciated by those who understand economic policy and global realities.
He described the gathering as an unusual development in Nigeria’s political history, claiming that President Tinubu had brought together politicians who previously belonged to opposing political camps.
“It has never happened in Nigerian political history that one man attracts a collection of nearly all opposition parties—not just opposition politicians, but people who have never agreed to sit together. Because of President Tinubu, they have agreed to pursue a common goal,” he said.
The APC chieftain maintained that the political discussion surrounding Tinubu’s second-term ambition should extend beyond electoral considerations to include the country’s long-term economic prosperity.
He acknowledged the economic challenges facing Nigerians but argued that the President remained committed to implementing his administration’s policies and achieving its stated objectives.
“For me, the inauguration of the Campaign Council is just like a congregation celebrating President Tinubu’s re-election. What else remains when the same Nigerians we intend to campaign for have collectively come forward in unison for one person—Tinubu?” Kwankwaso said.
Turning to Kano State, Kwankwaso expressed confidence that the political alignment he described at the national level would also be reflected in the state.
He cited President Tinubu’s public recognition of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, including the symbolic presentation of a cap, as an indication of what he believes could strengthen the Governor’s political prospects.
Kwankwaso expressed optimism about the prospects of a second term for Governor Yusuf and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo.
He further claimed that key political figures in Kano were working towards a common objective of supporting the re-election bids of President Tinubu and Governor Yusuf.
Among those he mentioned were Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Appropriations Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Abdulmumini Jibrin Kofa, Senator Kawu Sumaila, former Kano State Governor and former APC National Chairman Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Kano Central Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, and Alhassan Rirum.
According to Kwankwaso, ”the cooperation among these political figures reflects a shared commitment to advancing the second-term ambitions of Tinubu and the Yusuf-led administration in Kano.”
He concluded by expressing confidence that the APC would secure substantial support across Northern Nigeria for Tinubu, promising that efforts were underway to consolidate the region’s votes behind the President.
