Kwara Govt urges Youths to shun Cyber-crime

The Kwara State Government has urged youths to shun cyber-crime by embracing good virtues.

The State Government through the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mrs. Harriet Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin reiterated this while receiving delegates from the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the State Ministry of Youth Development.

According to her, the vision of the Ministry is to be a catalyst for having the best youth in the country, hence the dedication of the State Government in the active pursuit of a crime free society by actively engaging the youths in meaningful activities.

Afolabi-Oshatimehin, who expressed sadness over the havoc caused by the menace of Cyber-crime in the society, assured that measures have been put in place to ensure that youths are sensitized on the dangers of Cyber-crime from time to time

She expressed delight at having the associations come forward with their various challenges and suggestions, assuring them that they will not be left aside in the running of the affairs of the state as the State Government has put adequate measures in place to ensure inclusiveness.

She encouraged them to always come up with meaningful projects that the Ministry can include in the budget, stating that the Government, through the Ministry, has invested in life-transforming projects which have aided the development of many youths into a productive workforce.

She also advised them never to compromise on their integrity.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barrister Iyabo Funke Banire, in her remarks, advised the associations to never hesitate in coming up with good suggestions as the key word of the Ministry is Youths.

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, Salman Yusuf Isa, who led the delegates to the Ministry had earlier in his address stated the challenges facing the association.

He sought the help of the State Government, through the Ministry of Youths Development, in addressing those challenges as the youths play key role in national development.

In a related development, the members of the delegation of the Nigerian Youth Parliament NYC and ECOWAS Youth Parliament were also at the Ministry to pay a courtesy call.

The Commissioner appreciated them for associating with her and seeing her as deserving of the effort.

Mr Buhari Abubakar Saddiq and AbdulKareem AbdulKareem, who led the delegated members of the two team respectively, stated that the visits were to congratulate the commissioner on her appointment into office as well as familiarize with the Ministry.
