Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Enoch Fanmak said the October 9 Local Government election in Plateau State would see them going to the polls to affirm their candidates, now that the high court has ruled against the PDP, stopping the party from participating in the forth coming local government election in the 17 local government areas.
Mr Fanmak said the judgement proved that the other party had no case and it also means that the APC was fully on ground and ready to see it’s people take over to make local administration effective.
“The APC is a gender sensitive party with four women as deputy chairmen and a good number as councillors out of the 324 councillors in the 17 local government area we have, Women are also included in the national caretaker committee to give them a voice and level playing field,” Me Fannmank said.
He explained that the state Congress holding in a few weeks will help the party put it’s house in order for better performance in 2023 election.
He said that as Nigeria celebrates 61 years of independence, the country has grown politically and with the APC at the helm of affairs the political process would be structured in a manner that appeals to all Nigerians.
PDP Appeal
Meanwhile the People’s Democratic Party,PDP, said it would appeal the judgement preventing the party from.paricipating in the October 9 local government polls.
A statement signed by the party’s publicity secretary John Akans said “this judgment can only be celebrated by those whose consciences are dead to the plight of the people “.
While calling on members of the PDP across the state to remain calm as arrangement was being made for an appeal to be filed immediately by its legal team, Mr. Akans said “election remains the only democratically available means of transition for changing any administration”.
It would be recalled that Justice Kunda dismissed the case filled by the PDP against the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC, for excluding it from participating in the 9 October 2021 local government election and awarded a 2.5 million naira fine against the PDP.
As the APC looks forward to a celebration on or after 9 October, the PDP is dead set on ruining the fun through the appeal.
