The Warrant Officers Academy (WOA) has graduated 77 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs), further strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to combat terrorism.

The graduating class comprises 74 Nigerian Army personnel from various corps, two Nigerian Navy personnel, and one Nigerian Air Force personnel.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, in his speech at the Warrant Officers’ Academy Course 46/2025, described the graduation as a significant milestone in the academy’s contributions to ongoing transformation efforts within the Nigerian Army.

Represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps, Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Army Chief said, “Through effective training, the academy has developed the capacity of SNCOs, enabling them to better discharge their responsibilities and bridge the gap between commissioned officers and the enlisted cadre.”

He highlighted the critical roles that Warrant Officers and SNCOs play in command and leadership positions, noting that the academy was established to address junior leadership challenges vital for effective decision-making amid national security threats.

“I am confident that the skills you have acquired will equip you to bridge the knowledge and leadership gaps as you return to your units and formations. The curriculum you have engaged with has prepared you to contribute effectively to administration and operations,” he added.

“I charge you to employ the knowledge and skills gained here to project your leadership and managerial capabilities for the benefit of the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces of Nigeria in whatever capacity you are deployed,” Shaibu stressed.

He commended the Commandant, instructors, and staff of the academy for their dedication, while also recognising the presence of Navy and Air Force personnel among the graduands as a sign of inter-service collaboration.

Earlier, the Commandant of WOA, Brigadier General Aminu Umar, described the graduation as the successful completion of Course 46/2025 following 22 weeks of intensive training.

“I urge you to be courageous, honest, disciplined, and loyal leaders,” Umar said, noting that the training included rigorous field activities and academic exercises to enhance the capabilities of Senior Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers.

He expressed appreciation to the commanders and commandants of Nigerian Army units and schools within Jaji and 1 Division Area of Responsibility for their support in achieving the academy’s training objectives.
