The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs and the organised private sector to improve the ease of doing business and accelerate economic growth in Nigeria.
President of the Chamber, Dr Emeka Obegolu, made the call during a courtesy visit by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Zephaniah Jisalo, to the Chamber’s headquarters in Abuja.
Obegolu said the visit reflects the federal government’s recognition of the critical role of the private sector in national development.
“The Chamber’s activities are driven through four strategic centres focused on policy advocacy, entrepreneurship development, dispute resolution and trade promotion.”

The ACCI President urged the Minister to champion greater government attention to the Idu Industrial Area and the Kwali Industrial Park through improved infrastructure and investment, stressing that their development would enhance industrialisation, create jobs and stimulate economic activities within the Federal Capital Territory.
As part of the visit, the Chamber conferred the prestigious National Policy Fellow honour on Jisalo in recognition of his public service, commitment to governance, intergovernmental collaboration and contributions to national development.
Responding, the Minister described the honour as a privilege and a call to greater service.
He commended the Chamber’s sustained efforts in business development, investment promotion and policy advocacy, noting that “ACCI has continued to play a strategic role in advancing Nigeria’s economic growth.”
Jisalo explained that his Ministry “oversees national honours, monitors constituency and special projects, and facilitates collaboration among Ministries, Departments and Agencies.“
He also assured the Chamber of his willingness to engage relevant government institutions, including agencies responsible for trade, industry and the Federal Capital Territory, to address challenges affecting businesses.
