ACCI Urges Stronger Security to Boost Investments

By Jennifer Inah, Abuja

The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Emeka Obegolu, has called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to address insecurity across Nigeria, saying peace and stability are critical to attracting investment and accelerating economic growth.

In a statement marking Nigeria’s  Democracy Day anniversary, Obegolu said the occasion provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifices made by the nation’s democratic heroes while recommitting to the values of unity, peace, and national development.

“Democracy Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices of our heroes past whose courage and commitment laid the foundation for the freedoms and democratic values we enjoy today,” he stated.

The ACCI President urged citizens to continue promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect as essential ingredients for national progress.

According to him, security remains a key factor in economic development and investment attraction.

“Peace and security remain critical to economic growth and investment attraction,” Obegolu said.

He explained that countries characterised by stability and peaceful coexistence are better positioned to attract investors, stimulate business activities, create jobs, and drive sustainable economic development.

The ACCI President therefore called on the Federal Government to implement lasting measures to tackle insurgency and other security challenges confronting the nation.

While congratulating Nigerians on the 33rd anniversary of Democracy Day, he stressed the need for sustained efforts to foster national stability and unlock the country’s economic potential.

Obegolu also expressed confidence that Nigeria would continue to make progress through good governance, peace, and collective commitment to nation-building.
