ADP Hails Adeleke, Calls Osun Result Breakthrough

By Bitrus Kozah, Abuja

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in the August 15 governorship election, describing the outcome as a significant development in the state’s democratic journey.

The National Chairman of the party, Mr Yabagi Sani, in a statement, commended the people of Osun State for their peaceful participation in the electoral process and stressed the need for the verdict of the electorate to be respected.

Sani urged any candidate or political party with legitimate grievances over the election to seek redress through constitutionally recognised and legally established channels.

He described the ADP’s fourth-place finish in the election as a major achievement rather than a setback, given the financial resources and established political structures of some of the parties it contested against.

According to him, the result demonstrated the party’s growing grassroots influence and increasing acceptance among voters.

Sani said the performance also reflected the effectiveness of the party’s “silent but strategic” campaign and its determination to offer Nigerians a credible alternative to the established political order.

The ADP chairman commended the party’s governorship candidate, Adeagbo O. Yemisi, describing her campaign as courageous, disciplined and focused on issues affecting the people.

He said Yemisi’s performance demonstrated that Nigerian women had the leadership capacity, political strength and public appeal to compete for the highest elective offices in the country.

Sani also commended the ADP’s Osun State leadership, campaign organisation, members, polling agents, volunteers and supporters for their commitment and sacrifices throughout the election.

He thanked voters across the state who supported the party and entrusted their votes to its candidate.

The national chairman said the party would undertake a critical assessment of its performance, identify areas requiring improvement, strengthen its organisational structures and consolidate its gains ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the ADP’s performance should not be judged solely by its position on the final result table but also by what he described as evidence of a political movement gaining ground and creating new opportunities for the party.

The ADP congratulated Adeleke on his renewed mandate and urged him to remain mindful of the expectations of the people while wishing him success in governing the state.
