Residents of the Unguwar Ciki community in the Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State are expected to regain electricity supply following the donation of a 35KVA transformer to replace a faulty unit that had plunged the area into prolonged blackout.
The transformer was donated on Sunday by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Alhaji Muktar Galadima, following complaints from residents about the disruption in electricity supply.
Galadima, who was represented by the Director-General of his campaign organisation, Mr Zando Hoku, said the prolonged power outage had affected economic and social activities in the community.
He said the intervention was aimed at helping to restore electricity supply and ease the difficulties faced by residents.
Receiving the transformer on behalf of the community, the Sarkin Ibi, Alhaji Abubakar Danbawuro III, commended the donor for responding to the community’s request.
The traditional ruler said the intervention would provide relief to residents who had endured the effects of the prolonged power outage.
Danbawuro also called on individuals and organisations from Ibi to support initiatives that could improve basic infrastructure and living conditions in the area.
Galadima further pledged to support efforts aimed at addressing other infrastructure and social needs in the constituency.
