A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gloria Akobundu, has expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to tackling hunger and poverty, urging Nigerians to support his administration’s second-term bid.

Reacting to the President’s message in Kaduna, Akobundu described the outing as a defining moment, contrasting what she characterised as the APC’s solution-driven leadership with the opposition’s criticism of the administration.

She recalled President Tinubu’s remarks on hunger, poverty and his administration’s pursuit of a second term.

“I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did! We are trying to eradicate it. To you, the children of our country, it’s a promise of a second-term prosperity; you will not regret it.”

Akobundu described the statement as reflecting what she considered the courage and clarity of purpose of the Tinubu administration.

“Mr President is not denying the challenges. He is confronting them with honesty and determination. The opposition created the structural problems that left millions in hunger and poverty. This government is systematically dismantling those failures and building a new foundation for shared prosperity.”

She said the administration’s approach included agricultural initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda, expanded social investment programmes, targeted cash transfers, food security interventions and support for smallholder farmers and women-led enterprises.

According to Akobundu, the initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 1 on ending poverty and Goal 2 on achieving zero hunger.

“Every policy, every intervention, and every mobilisation is geared towards lifting Nigerians out of poverty and ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry. That is the promise of a second term prosperity that is real, inclusive, and irreversible.”

Akobundu also attributed the turnout and reception in Kaduna to growing public confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She described the event as a mobilisation of progressive forces in the North-West and said the APC remained united in its efforts to consolidate the administration’s achievements.

The APC chieftain called on women, young people, traditional institutions, faith-based organisations and party members across the country, particularly in the South-East, to support President Tinubu.

“This is not the time for division or distraction. The task of national renewal requires every progressive hand on deck. A second term for President Tinubu is a second chance for Nigeria to complete the journey from hardship to hope, from scarcity to abundance.”

Akobundu reaffirmed her support for the President, expressing confidence in his vision and the promises he made to Nigerian children and future generations.
