The Anambra State chapter of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has concluded preparations for the party’s nationwide Presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Addressing journalists at the APC state secretariat in Awka on Friday, the state chairman of the party, Senator Emmanuel Anosike, said members had been mobilised across the state’s 326 political wards to participate in the direct primary election.
Anosike said; “members of the party’s State Executive Committee would be deployed across the wards to supervise and monitor the exercise to ensure a peaceful and transparent process.
He said that security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the primaries, which are expected to hold simultaneously across Nigeria’s 8,809 wards.
The APC Chairman also commended the conduct of the party’s recently concluded primaries for legislative positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Anosike, “the APC successfully produced three senatorial candidates, 11 House of Representatives candidates and 27 candidates for the Anambra State House of Assembly.”
He said; “We have just concluded a major assignment of electing our representatives for the elections and it went well.
“It shows we are on the ground and ready for the 2027 elections. The process was credible and fair, and even those who lost accepted the outcome peacefully.”
Anosike praised the party’s primary election committee and the APC National Working Committee (NWC) for overseeing what he described as a smooth and orderly process in the state.
He further commended Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma for his continued political and financial support for the APC in Anambra State.
Anosike added that party members involved in court actions against the APC remained expelled, reaffirming the party leadership’s stance on internal disciplinary matters.
