Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has urged Nigerians to embrace compassion, honesty, humility, justice and peaceful coexistence as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
He made the call in a goodwill message to the Muslim community in Anambra and across Nigeria, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.
The Governor said the celebration offered an opportunity for spiritual reflection and renewed commitment to values capable of promoting peace, unity and national development.
“Eid-el-Maulud is not only a commemoration of a birth; it is an invitation to imbibe the timeless values that the Prophet lived and taught, such as mercy, truthfulness, tolerance, and love for one another,” Soludo said.
He urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliation, to apply these values in their daily lives, homes, workplaces and public engagements, noting that they were essential to building a peaceful, just and prosperous society.
Governor Soludo commended Muslim and Christian communities in Anambra for maintaining peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, describing the relationship as an example of unity in diversity for the country.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive state where citizens, regardless of religious affiliation, could contribute to the development of Anambra.
The Governor wished Muslims across Nigeria a peaceful and reflective Eid-el-Maulud celebration, expressing hope that the occasion would bring renewed hope, unity and blessings to families across the country.
