Anambra State Moves To Strengthen Healthcare Delivery

The Anambra State Government is committed to the establishment of strong hub, spoke referral system which is a gateway to efficient service healthcare delivery.

The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike stated this during a health stakeholders meeting in his office at Awka, the state capital.

Dr. Obidike explained that the goal of governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration was to ensure highest possible level of health and well-being and equitable distribution by focusing on people’s needs as early as possible to improve prevention.

“We have been able to conduct gap analysis immediately we assumed into office, that’s the reason the governor approved for the employment of health workers across the General Hospitals.Currently 3 major General Hospitals are being upgraded and soon we are going to hire qualified personnel in Primary Healthcare system with the objective of achieving optimal service delivery across the state.

“We have established a strong hub, spoke referral system that originates from the PHCs to the Secondary Care (GH) and then to the tertiary levels of care which is the Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital,” the Commissioner said.

He explained that the essence of the meeting was also to review, evaluate the effective use of the established referral system in the state.

Dr. Obidike thanked the governor for his continued support and commitment in ensuring that Anambra people are provided with specialist treatment that is affordable and accessible.

The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency,ASPHCDA, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu described the meeting as fruitful and educating.

The meeting had in attendance the Executive Secretary State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, State Hospital Administrator, Directors and Officer in charge of Primary Healthcare Centers.
