The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir, has provided six trucks of grains and N10 million for distribution to party supporters in Yabo Local Government Area.
The grains, comprising rice, maize, and millet, are to be distributed across the local government’s 10 wards, while each ward is allocated N1 million.
Maitafsir’s Media Aide, Malami Umar Torankawa, disclosed this in Sokoto, saying the initiative was aimed at providing relief to party supporters in the area.
He said committees had been established in the 10 wards to coordinate the distribution and ensure that the items and funds reached the intended beneficiaries.
According to him, the committees are expected to give consideration to elders, women, and youths during the exercise.
Torankawa urged members of the committees to ensure fairness and transparency in the distribution.
The initiative comes ahead of the 2027 general elections, during which Maitafsir is seeking election to represent the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency.
The original appeal by the candidate’s aide for residents to support the APC and its candidates has been excluded from the report to maintain VON’s editorial neutrality.
