Nigerian sprint sensation, Tobi Amusan, brought the curtain down on her competitive year with a stellar performance, finishing second in the women’s 100m hurdles at the ATHLOS meeting at StoneX Stadium in Barnet, London.
In a race that went right down to the wire, Amusan clocked an impressive 12.51 seconds (+1.2m/s tailwind), missing out on the top spot by a razor-thin margin of just 0.01 seconds.
American Alaysha Johnson clinched victory with a time of 12.50 seconds to succeed as the event’s hurdles champion, capping off a marathon 40-race campaign.
The high-stakes showdown lived up to its billing, drawing a world-class field of elite athletes. Behind Johnson and Amusan, Commonwealth Games champion and world indoor record holder Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas secured third place in 12.63 seconds.
For her efforts on the evening, Amusan pocketed $35,000 in prize money, adding to a lucrative and rigorous stretch of late-season appearances that included a strong podium finish in Budapest.
