The All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA has been declared winner of Ihiala Federal Constituency, just as Supplementary poll is to hold in Anambra East and West Constituency to determine the winner.

The Local Government, Returning Officer, Ihiala Federal Constituency, Prof Anthony Okoye said the APGA Candidate, Pascal Agbodike, the incumbent Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly polled 5709 to defeat his closest rival, Ifeanyi Momah of the PDP who polled 2,554.

The Returning  officer  of the  General Elections held  for Anambra West and Anambra East Federal Constituency has declared a supplementary election.

Dr Ugochukwu Okafor said that election was declared null and void in two polling units namely Umualum Square,pu 004 and Umugalagu  Pu 007 both in Aguleri ward 2.

He disclosed in an interview in Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area  that the leading candidate scored a total of 14,847 while the second maximum votes was 13,782.

He said that the margin of lead between the first maximum votes  and the second maximum votes is 1065.

Therefore, Okafor said in line clause 40 of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)Regulations and guidelines for elections 2022,another dates shall be fixed for supplementary election in the affected polling units.

He also stated that it is so because the total number of voters who collected  their PVCs in the affected polling units where over voting occurred is more than the margin of lead between the leading candidate and the second candidate

Mr Peter Anaekwe of  the Labour party is the leading candidate while Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, the incumbent Reps Member of APGA is the second in line.

Efforts made through a phone call to get the views of the candidates proved abortive  as none of the candidates picked up their phones.
