Nigeria has stepped up efforts to promote its blue economy and attract Spanish investment, with the Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, participating in the opening of CONXEMAR 2026 in Vigo, Galicia, Spain.
Ikpeazu attended the opening ceremony of the 27th International Frozen Seafood Exhibition at the IFEVI Exhibition Centre.
CONXEMAR is one of the world’s major trade fairs dedicated to the frozen seafood industry, bringing together key players in fisheries, aquaculture, marine and related sectors.

The opening ceremony was attended by Spanish government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders and other stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture industries.

On the sidelines of the event, Ikpeazu engaged with CONXEMAR officials and representatives of companies operating in packaging, marine and fisheries-related industries.

The engagements formed part of ongoing efforts to position Nigeria’s blue economy as an area of investment and strengthen economic cooperation between Nigeria and Spain.
They also focused on creating opportunities for Spanish businesses to explore investment prospects in Nigeria’s fisheries, aquaculture, marine and broader blue economy sectors.
