Army Chief Commissions Luxury Housing Estate in Yaba

Nokai Origin, Abuja

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned the Nigerian Army Welfare Limited by Guarantee (NAWLG) Luxury Estate in Yaba, Lagos, emphasising home ownership and financial planning for military personnel.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.

The COAS described the housing development as a critical investment model designed to provide long-term financial security and smooth transition into retirement for serving and retired officers alongside civilian subscribers.

The Army Chief highlighted that frequent operational deployments often hinder military personnel from securing permanent family residences during active service.

General Shaibu noted that the mixed military-civilian housing model promotes social integration, strengthens civil-military relations, and prepares retiring personnel for post-service community life.

The COAS stated that the initiative aligns directly with his Command Philosophy of Sound Administration and the “Soldier First Concept.”

Expressing appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his sustained support, the COAS charged NAWLG management to maintain strict transparency, accountability, and regulatory standards to safeguard subscriber investments.
