The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have established a partnership to enhance collaboration aimed at improving safety, documentation, and monitoring of expatriates within Benue State.
The resolution followed a meeting between the Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr Raymond Asemakaha, and the Benue State Comptroller of NIS, Grace Nkangwung, in Makurdi.
Dr Asemakaha said BIPC accounts for about 75 per cent of expatriates working in the state through its industrial and investment projects.
He said the company would provide the NIS with details of all expatriates engaged in its projects, including their Temporary Work Permits, to ensure proper documentation and compliance with immigration laws.
“We are here to build the state, and we will not have criminals in the state,” he said.
He also raised concerns over past experiences of some expatriates with immigration personnel but commended the Comptroller for addressing the issues.

Nkangwung said measures had been put in place to prevent a recurrence and urged BIPC to notify the service of new expatriates entering the state to enable effective monitoring.
She commended the BIPC management and Governor Hyacinth Alia for ongoing infrastructural development, noting that Benue is emerging as a hub for construction and investment.
Earlier, Head of Business Development and Strategy at BIPC, Theresa Abeda, said the meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration, promote investment, enhance security and ensure compliance with immigration regulations in the state.
