The Coca cola Foundation in collaboration with the Baywood Foundation, is set to spend $98.9 dollars on youth ICT and Skills Acquisition in three local government areas of Enugu state in eastern Nigeria.
The project which is to be officially launched on Thursday is targeting 600 women and youth including the physically challenged.
The Country Director of Baywood Foundation, Barrister Ojielo Chukwudi made this known on Friday while addressing newsmen.
Chukwudi said that the programme nicknamed (YISAP) Youth ICT and Skills Acquisition Project, (a pilot project) is designed to be implemented from January to December, 2021.
“This project will empower 600 young people, especially young women with relevant entrepreneurship and vocational skills such as ICT, Photography, Photo and video editing, Agro-busineses skills, Barbing, Digital Marketing, Graphics Design, Confectioneries, Marketing of Household essentials and other homemade consumables to that can leverage for a steady income stream,” he stated.
The YISAP project will also provide sees fund to 100 participants to help start up their businesses, in addition to providing mentorship and support on Branding and Packaging, Trademark and Business registration as well as empower beneficiaries with skill of business and financial management.
Chukwudi said; It will also create partnerships with institutions such as SME Agencies to provide market access, industry linkages and access to finance for innovative ideas and start-ups for young entrepreneurs leveraging technology to scale their businesses.”
He expressed gratitude to the Coca cola Foundation for the grant award saying it will no doubt empower participants with the requisite ICT and entrepreneurial skills necessary to become self-employed and employable.
Chukwudi further said it would also boost improved livelihood for participants with disabilities and their beneficiaries.
Baywood Foundation is a non-governmental organisation founded in 2009 to support communities at negative edges of household income, unemployment, healthcare access, illiteracy, marginalisation and exclusion. The Foundation aims to complement government efforts through its projects in order to provide systemic solutions to the aforementioned challenges.
