The Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Island Port Area Command, has restated the need for sustained cooperation among security and regulatory agencies to tackle emerging challenges and keep port operations seamless.
Newly appointed Customs Controller, Comptroller J.A. Anani, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police Command, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.
The visit focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration and building on the existing synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force to secure the maritime domain and facilitate legitimate trade.
Comptroller Anani commended the Ports Authority Police, Western Command, for its consistent commitment to security and public order within the port.
Agbaminoja welcomed the Controller and congratulated him on the new appointment.
She reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with Customs and other stakeholders to strengthen security across Nigeria’s seaports.
“Effective collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint operational drills remain critical to fighting crime in the maritime sector and protecting critical national assets,” Agbaminoja said.
Both leaders pledged to deepen the partnership between their agencies to build a secure, efficient and globally competitive maritime ecosystem.
