The Nigeria Customs Service, Niger/Kogi Area Command, and the Department of State Services (DSS), Kogi State Command, have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation to enhance security operations and safeguard national economic interests.
This renewed partnership was underscored during a courtesy visit by the Customs Area Controller, Niger/Kogi Area Command, Comptroller Muhammad Sani Umar, mni, to the DSS State Director, Aliyu Bashir, in Kogi State.
During the engagement, Comptroller Umar emphasised the importance of sustained synergy, intelligence sharing and operational collaboration between security agencies in addressing evolving security challenges.
He noted that effective inter-agency coordination remains critical to achieving national security objectives, particularly in monitoring and regulating the movement of goods and persons across borders and within the country.

The Area Controller further highlighted that stronger collaboration between both agencies would enhance efforts to combat smuggling, improve revenue protection and strengthen overall economic security.
In his response, the DSS State Director, Aliyu Bashir, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Service’s readiness to continue working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service.
He stressed the importance of extending collaboration beyond leadership engagements to include officers at operational and field levels to ensure seamless intelligence sharing and improved service delivery.
Bashir further called for sustained engagement between personnel of both agencies to deepen cooperation and strengthen coordinated responses to security issues within the state.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment by both agencies to enhance existing partnerships, improve intelligence coordination and reinforce security synergy across Kogi State for more effective national service delivery.
