Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christophe Musa (Rtd.) has renewed calls for sustained national support for the Armed Forces, warning that the country’s long-running battle against insurgency, terrorism, banditry and violent criminal networks requires deeper societal unity and collective national resolve beyond military operations alone.
The Defence Minister made the position known during a courtesy visit by the General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja, where discussions focused on national security, moral support for troops and the role of faith institutions in stabilising the country’s security environment.
Within the Ministry’s assessment of ongoing security operations, Musa stressed that morale, public confidence and national solidarity remain critical operational enablers for troops deployed across multiple theatres, particularly as military formations continue to confront asymmetric threats and expanding internal security pressures nationwide.

The Minister acknowledged the sustained prayers and support extended by religious organisations and faith communities, noting that such interventions continue to strengthen the psychological resilience and fighting spirit of personnel engaged in frontline operations.
He further maintained that the Armed Forces remain committed to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity, protecting citizens and restoring stability across troubled regions despite evolving security complexities confronting the country.
The meeting also reinforced growing recognition within defence and policy circles that religious leaders and community institutions remain strategic stakeholders in promoting peace, national cohesion and social stability at a time of heightened political, economic and security tensions.
Musa urged religious leaders across the country to continue advancing messages of patriotism, peaceful coexistence and national unity, warning that fragmentation, distrust and divisive rhetoric could further complicate national security efforts.
Pastor Muoka, during the engagement, assured the Defence Minister of the church’s continued support for the Armed Forces and the Federal Government, while offering prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, national stability and the safety of troops operating across conflict zones.
The cleric also prayed for divine protection for military personnel and lasting peace across all parts of Nigeria as security agencies intensify ongoing operations against criminal and insurgent elements.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and renewed commitment towards sustained collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and faith-based institutions in advancing national peace, security and unity.
