The Ebonyi State government has provided accommodation to persons living with disabilities in the state.
Interested persons living with disabilities in the state have also been allowed to access free healthcare from the Ebonyi Government health insurance scheme.
The State Commissioner for Health, Chief Moses Ekuma, said this on Monday while handing over the accommodation to the physically challenged person at Ugwuachara in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Ezego Lawrence, said the government demanded that persons living with disabilities be relocated from the former Ebonyi State Health Management Board SHMB to the place.
“We want to assure you that we shall do everything possible to make sure that you are comfortable.
“We want to assure you that from time to time, we shall be coming to visit you.
“The government is not chasing you away. The government has the intention of the state at heart,” the commissioner said.
According to him, the Presco Junction SHBM has been designed to be a federal blood bank for the South-East geo-political zone.
He stressed that Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved money for the project.
“For sometimes now, some people have been resisting moving from that place to this place as directed by their parent Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
“Today, we are going to enroll you in Ebonyi State Health Insurance Authority EBSHIA. As from now on, we will make sure that your health is taken care of.
“So, when we leave here, we will get your names and you will take your cards so that if you enter any hospital in Ebonyi State, be it a general hospital, be it a health centre, you will be attended to free of charge.
“We will now liaise with the Ministry of Women Affairs, your parent ministry, to ensure that all your entitlements are given to you.

He does not discriminate. He knows that you are existing. He knows that there was a time you adopted him for a second tenure.
The Leader of Persons with disabilities, Mr. Nweze Kingsley, expressed joy over the development.
“I am so proud to welcome this honor and privilege. Our governor is not leaving us behind.
“He is a good man. He has been taking care of us, although getting to this place was a thug of war.
“But I thank God that a day like this finally came to reality.
“I strongly believe that, as he has promised, he will do it because his promises are always sacrosanct; he never fails his promises.
“I am also urging all Ebonyi People who are physically challenged to come and join this crusade for our dreams to be actualized.
“I am also thanking the Commissioner for championing our cause, and I want to tell him that we are not violent; we are law-abiding citizens and will always support the leadership of our governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru,” he added
