President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged religious leaders to use this year’s Eid al-Maulud celebration to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the lessons of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) into greater commitment to the nation.
President Tinubu, in a statement signed on Tuesday by his Spokesperson,Mr Bayo Onanuga, also called for prayers against insecurity and other afflictions affecting parts of the country.
Congratulating Muslims on the Eid al-Maulud celebration, the President urged the faithful to imbibe the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and use the occasion for introspection, prayer and reflection on the Prophet’s exceptional virtues.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.
The President urged Muslims celebrating the Maulud festival to extend a hand of fellowship to the needy and vulnerable in the spirit of the season.
