The wife of Anambra State Governor Dr Nonye Soludo has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, religious tolerance and mutual understanding as Muslims in Anambra State and across the country mark Eid ul Mawlid.
Soludo, in a message issued on Tuesday through her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, felicitated Muslim faithful and urged them to use the occasion to strengthen their faith and promote kindness, compassion and peaceful coexistence.
“Wishing our Muslim brothers and sisters in Anambra State and across Nigeria a blessed and peaceful Eid ul Mawlid celebration.
“May this sacred occasion bring peace to our homes, strengthen our faith, and inspire us to show greater kindness and understanding to one another.
“Eid ul Mawlid Mubarak!” she said.
Eid ul Mawlid, also known as Mawlid al-Nabi, is observed by many Muslims to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The celebration has evolved over centuries and is marked by Muslim communities in different parts of the world through prayers, religious gatherings, recitations, sermons, acts of charity and reflection on the Prophet’s life and teachings.
For celebrants, the occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and renew their commitment to values including compassion, humility, justice, generosity and peaceful relations with others.
In Nigeria, a multi-faith nation with Muslims and Christians as its two largest religious communities, the celebration also carries broader national significance, particularly in promoting religious tolerance, social harmony and peaceful coexistence.
Soludo urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the spirit of Eid ul Mawlid by showing greater kindness and understanding towards one another, while praying for continued peace, progress and prosperity in Anambra State and Nigeria.
She said mutual respect across religious, ethnic and social lines remained important to strengthening national unity and building a more peaceful and cohesive society.
Eid ul Mawlid is observed in various parts of the world, although the date and manner of celebration may differ among Muslim communities and schools of thought.
