Governors and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria have congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji on his election victory.

They have described the outcome as a strong endorsement of his administration’s performance and a positive signal for the country’s democratic development.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State said the scale of Oyebanji’s victory, which earned him overwhelming victory and securing the larger share of the vote, reflects the citizens’ confidence in his leadership.

He described the election as peaceful, transparent and credible, commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a smooth electoral process.

Abiodun noted that impressive voters turnout across the state demonstrated public trust in democracy and expressed optimism about the future of Nigeria’s electoral system.

He said the conduct of the election provided a glimpse into what future elections in the country will look like if the same standards of transparency and security are maintained.

In the same vein, the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, described the result as a testament to Oyebanji’s achievements in office.

He said the victory reflected the confidence of the people in the APC administration and its development agenda.

Public Support

Uzodinma also congratulated President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the ruling party, stating that the outcome underscores growing public support for the APC.

He urged Governor Oyebanji’s to build on the mandate by sustaining development initiatives and delivering quality leadership to the people of Ekiti State.

On his part, former Ekiti State Governor, Kayodee Fayemi, welcomed the outcome of the election.

He described it as a clear vote of confidence in Oyebanji’s governance record.

Fayemi praised Ekiti residents for their peaceful participation in the poll and commended INEC and security agencies for the orderly conduct of the election.

He called on Governor Oyebanji to consolidate gains recorded during his first term, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and human capital development.

The former governor also appealed to opposition candidates and their supporters to accept the outcome in good faith and work collectively for the development of the state.

Prioritise the Interests

He stressed that elections should be viewed as democratic contests rather than conflicts, even as he urged stakeholders to prioritise the interests of Ekiti above partisan considerations.

Calling for unity across political, ethnic and religious lines, Fayemi urged Ekiti people at home and in the diaspora to support the governor as he begins a new term in office, saying cooperation and shared commitment remain essential to sustaining the state’s development trajectory.
