Nigerian Writer and producer Faith Akinola is set to premiere her latest stage production, ‘The Letter’.
The play delves into themes of identity, rejection, societal pressure, emotional healing and restoration, centred on a young bride whose expectations around one of the most important moments of her life are abruptly shattered.
Set against a backdrop of celebration and family anticipation, ‘The Letter’ traces the central character as she grapples with disappointment, cultural expectations, unsolicited advice and public scrutiny.

Speaking on the production, Akinola said the play interrogates how people react when life takes an unforeseen turn.
“At its heart, The Letter asks what happens when the life you imagined suddenly changes, and whether disappointment should ever be allowed to determine how you see yourself. It is a story about finding your way back to identity, hope and wholeness.”
The production fuses drama, music and symbolic staging to tell its story, guiding audiences through the protagonist’s personal struggle and her journey towards restoration.
‘The Letter’ stars veteran actresses Tina Mba and Kate Henshaw, alongside Oluchi Odi, Mich Straw and other members of the cast.
Presented by Mustard Tree Productions, founded by Akinola, the company is focused on creating stories and experiences across stage, screen and live entertainment.
‘The Letter’ will be staged on 26 September, bringing together theatre, music and storytelling in an exploration of rejection, resilience and restoration.
