A former Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbe has stressed the need for the Tinubu administration if elected to develop Agriculture and encourage local production of goods to generate revenue.

Ogbe stated this at a symposium on dissecting Tinubu’s Manifesto organised by the All Progressives Congress, APC Professional Forum in Abuja.

We import too much and the Tinubu administration has to rationalise import, cut down on trivialities you can do without, save our foreign exchange, increase the value of the naira and make us produce those things that we need” Ogbe said.

While pointing out the dangers of raining season, he said Nigeria needs to use a new strategy to cut down on importation.

We’ve cut down the import of rice, we are cutting down the import of palm oil, we should cut down the import of wheat. But we must change out strategy, Irrigation, raining season farming is very risky because of the flooding. We must also revive the river basins” he said.

Mr. Ogbe advocated the need for low interests credit facility to be provided to farmers to encourage farming.

He further advised Mr. Tinubu to create a department of rural development for there to be peace in the cities.
