Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated the Gombe State Executive Council by swearing in the new Head of the Civil Service, 23 Commissioners, 13 Special Advisers and one Permanent Secretary, charging them to justify the confidence placed in them through dedicated service and commitment to the continued development of the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the appointments as a call to selfless service and urged the new officials to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, diligence, transparency and the fear of God.

He congratulated the appointees, noting that by taking the oath of office they had affirmed their commitment to serving the people and contributing to the overall development of Gombe State.
The Governor commended the Gombe State House of Assembly for its prompt screening and confirmation of the commissioner nominees, describing the cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislature over the past seven years as a key factor behind the administration’s achievements.
Addressing the commissioners, he said they had been carefully selected from across the state’s Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) on the basis of competence, experience and diversity to advance the administration’s development agenda.
He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by implementing government policies effectively and meeting the expectations of the people.
Governor Yahaya also tasked the newly appointed Special Advisers with providing strategic, evidence-based advice to strengthen governance, while urging the Permanent Secretaries to uphold professionalism, fiscal discipline and administrative efficiency.
He reminded the appointees that the administration was entering its final year in office and stressed that there was no time to waste.
“We are approaching the final phase of our administration. Your achievements must become our strongest campaign tools because this government speaks through its work and verifiable performance. You have less than one year to make your mark,” he said.
The Governor noted that over the past seven years, the administration had transformed key sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, rural development and the public service, earning Gombe national recognition for good governance and sustainable development.
Describing public office as a sacred trust, Governor Inuwa Yahaya warned that his administration would not tolerate corruption, indiscipline or the misuse of public resources.
“The powers and resources entrusted to you belong to the people and must be used solely in their interest,” he said.
He also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to support the new appointees in advancing the state’s development agenda.
As part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening governance, the Governor announced the expansion of the State Executive Council from 18 to 23 ministries.
The restructuring includes the creation of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as well as the Ministry of Livestock Development, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He explained that the new Ministry of Livestock Development would promote livestock productivity, strengthen value chains, enhance food security and stimulate rural economic transformation, further consolidating Gombe’s position as a leading livestock-producing state.

The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, described the inauguration as another milestone in Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s efforts to strengthen public institutions and reposition the civil service for more effective governance.
He said the appointments reflected the Governor’s commitment to merit and competence and expressed confidence that the appointees would serve with integrity, professionalism and dedication to the administration’s vision.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zubairu Muhammad Umar, thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their loyalty and commitment to delivering efficient public service.
