Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has approved the release of ₦4 billion for the second phase of the Community Development Programme (CDP), alongside key interventions in women’s empowerment, education, business reforms and water supply.
The approvals were granted on Wednesday during the 12th Regular Meeting of the Katsina State Executive Council for 2026, held at the General Muhammadu Buhari (GMB) House, Government House, Katsina, and chaired by Governor Radda.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr Bala Salisu Zango, said the Council approved several memoranda aimed at strengthening grassroots development, expanding opportunities for women, improving education, promoting economic reforms and enhancing public service delivery.
The Coordinator of the Community Development Programme, Associate Professor Kamaladden Kabir, announced that ₦4 billion had been approved for the second phase of the programme across the state’s 361 wards.
He explained that each ward would receive ₦10 million to implement projects selected by residents based on their most pressing developmental needs.
Kabir said the approval followed the successful implementation of the programme’s first phase and would enable Community Development Committees to continue executing projects that directly benefit their communities.
“The release of these funds demonstrates Governor Radda’s commitment to grassroots development by empowering communities to identify and implement projects that have a direct impact on the lives of the people,” he said.
On women’s empowerment, Dr Zango announced that the Council approved the state’s 2026 counterpart funding for the Nigeria for Women Project.
He said the initiative is designed to improve the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable women through economic empowerment, social inclusion and greater access to financial services.
According to him, Katsina has emerged as one of the leading states implementing the programme, reflecting the administration’s commitment to empowering women and promoting inclusive development.
“The approval reinforces the administration’s determination to empower women economically, promote financial inclusion and improve household livelihoods across Katsina State,” he stated.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, disclosed that the Council also approved the award of a contract for the supply and installation of smart ICT infrastructure at the newly established Model Secondary Schools in Jikamshi and Dumurkul.
He said the project includes smart classrooms, interactive digital boards, campus-wide ICT networks and other modern educational technologies designed to create secure, technology-driven learning environments.

Jibia noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Radda’s vision of transforming education through digital innovation and equipping students with skills for the 21st-century knowledge economy.
Also speaking, the Economic Adviser, Kahlil Nur Khalil, said the Council approved the publication of the 2025 Business Enabling Reform Action Plan (BERAP) Progress Report as part of the annual requirements under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme.
He said the decision reflects the state’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business, strengthening governance and attracting investment.
“The publication of the BERAP Progress Report demonstrates Katsina State’s continued commitment to institutional reforms that enhance transparency, improve the investment climate and stimulate economic growth,” he said.
On water supply, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Malam Dasuki Abubakar, announced that the Council approved the procurement of water treatment chemicals for the second quarter of 2026 to ensure an uninterrupted potable water supply across the state.
He added that water tanker trucks would be deployed to parts of Katsina metropolis during the ongoing rehabilitation and upgrading of the state waterworks, expected to last two weeks.
According to him, the temporary measure will ensure residents continue to have access to safe water while improvement works are completed.
The approvals underscore the Katsina State Government’s commitment to grassroots development, women’s empowerment, quality education, economic reforms and improved access to safe water.
