Group Commends CDS, Troops for Anti-Banditry Operations

A northern-based peace advocacy group, the Northern Alliance for Peace and Security, has commended the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Nigerian Armed Forces for what it described as sustained successes in ongoing military operations against banditry, terrorism and kidnapping across the country.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the group’s National President, Mallam Danladi Abutu, said recent military operations, including the rescue of hundreds of abducted persons and the neutralisation of armed criminals, reflect the Armed Forces’ renewed determination to tackle insecurity and restore public confidence.

Abutu said the recent achievements demonstrate the commitment of the military leadership to improving security, particularly in the North-East and North-West.

According to Abutu, the recent successes should reassure Nigerians that the Armed Forces remain committed to defeating terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements across the country.

He urged citizens to support the Federal Government’s efforts by providing credible intelligence to security agencies, stressing that community co-operation remains essential to winning the fight against insecurity.

The security situation is of concern to every well-meaning Nigerian. We must join hands with the Federal Government to ensure that the war against banditry is successfully prosecuted.

“What the Federal Government has done through our gallant troops sends a clear message to terrorists that they can never win this war. Every Nigerian deserves to live and work in peace anywhere in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abutu said.”
