The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has urged stakeholders in the 2026 Hajj exercise to embrace dialogue and collaboration in addressing concerns surrounding accommodation arrangements for Nigerian pilgrims in Mina and Arafat.
In a press statement issued by the Commission’s management, NAHCON said its attention had been drawn to reports credited to a State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board regarding the standard of accommodation being prepared for pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj.
The Commission acknowledged that concerns may arise during preparations for an operation as large and complex as Hajj, stressing, however, that constructive engagement and continuous consultations among stakeholders remain the most effective ways of resolving issues promptly and amicably.

NAHCON further explained that the selection and allocation of Mashair service providers for the 2026 Hajj were largely guided by the preferences and decisions collectively expressed by participating states during consultations with the Commission.
According to the statement, the Commission respected the collective decisions reached in the interest of pilgrims’ welfare and operational harmony.
The Commission therefore appealed to State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards and officials to prioritise collaboration and solution-driven engagement with service providers instead of taking unresolved concerns prematurely to the media.
NAHCON also encouraged states to work closely with service providers on-site to identify gaps, improve arrangements where necessary, and ensure the comfort, safety and welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
The Commission reassured intending pilgrims that it would continue to monitor service delivery in the Mashair and engage all relevant stakeholders to ensure a successful and hitch-free Hajj exercise.
