Rivers Government Hails APC Primary Process

By Iquo Williams, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Government has commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for conducting a peaceful, seamless and well-organised presidential primary election.

The exercise produced a landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara served as the State Collation Officer for the exercise held across the 23 local government areas of the state on Saturday.

He announced that President Tinubu secured all 280,082 votes cast during the election, while his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, failed to record a single vote.

Presenting the outcome of the exercise, the Governor disclosed that although the APC had 297,068 registered members in Rivers State, a total of 280,082 members were accredited to participate in the primary election.

According to him, “every accredited voter cast their ballot in favour of President Tinubu, the governor expressed satisfaction with the conduct of party officials and members,” noting that the orderly process reflected the level of preparation and coordination by the party leadership.

I feel that this process has recorded one of the most organised outings of our great party in recent times. The only reason it came out this way has to do with good planning. In all, I want to say that I’m really impressed with the process,” Governor Fubara stated.

He further explained that after carefully reviewing the figures submitted from the various local government areas, he was convinced that the results accurately represented the will of party members who participated in the election.

So, I can say here that having taken time to go through the figures diligently, I, Siminalayi Fubara, who is standing as the State Collation Officer, hereby certify that the information contained in my own spreadsheet represents the true, correct and accurate record of the summary of results from the 23 LGAs of Rivers State,” he added.

Governor Fubara also affirmed that the outcome clearly showed that President Tinubu overwhelmingly defeated his opponent in the Rivers State APC presidential primary.

He explained that the certified results would subsequently be forwarded to the APC national headquarters in Abuja for formal declaration and further party procedures.

The exercise, which witnessed massive participation by party faithful across the state, was conducted without any major incident, reinforcing confidence in the party’s internal electoral process ahead of future political engagements.
