The Nigerian Navy has rescued several victims trapped in the aftermath of a building collapse at the Alakija area of Lagos State, reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian assistance and support to civil authorities.
In a statement issued by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Navy said its personnel responded swiftly following a distress call on the incident.
According to the statement, naval personnel immediately mobilised to the scene and joined other emergency responders in search and rescue efforts aimed at saving lives.
The rescue team, through prompt action, professionalism and dedication, successfully pulled several victims from the rubble and evacuated them for urgent medical attention.
The victims were subsequently transported to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, Lagos, where they received emergency treatment and continue to receive medical care from the hospital’s medical personnel.
Necessary Medical Support
The Navy assured that it remains committed to ensuring that all those affected by the incident receive the necessary medical support required for their recovery.
The Chief of the Naval Staff commended the courage, professionalism and selfless service displayed by the rescue team during the operation.
He also praised the medical personnel at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo, for their swift response and dedication in attending to the rescued victims.
Collective Efforts
The naval chief further appreciated the cooperation and support of other emergency response agencies as well as members of the public whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the rescue operation.
Expressing sympathy to families affected by the unfortunate incident, the Nigerian Navy wished the injured victims a speedy recovery and reassured Nigerians of its continued readiness to provide humanitarian assistance and support to civil authorities whenever called upon, in line with its constitutional mandate.
