By Gloria Essien, Abuja

The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has commended the people of Osun State for what it described as a successful governorship election, urging Nigerians to reject vote buying and protect their electoral choices.

The Minority Leader, Fredrick Agbedi, gave the commendation on Tuesday in Abuja after a strategic meeting with the G100 Coalition.

Agbedi said “the determination of Osun voters to exercise their democratic rights demonstrated the importance of citizens making independent choices at the polls.”

Congratulations goes to the people of Osun State. Without the determination of the people, we wouldn’t have democracy saved in Osun State,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to emulate the people of Osun State by refusing to compromise their votes through buying or selling during elections.

Agbedi also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for its role in conducting the election, but urged the commission to continue improving its processes to ensure transparent, fair and credible elections.

The Minority Leader said “the caucus held the meeting with the G100 Coalition as part of ongoing consultations on strengthening cooperation among opposition political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He said the caucus would support efforts to promote greater cooperation among opposition stakeholders and participate in the technical committee established to advance the initiative.

Agbedi said; “the conduct of the Osun election demonstrated the importance of citizens remaining committed to the democratic process and protecting their votes.”

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and exercise their constitutional right to determine who leads them through the ballot
