The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, has donated relief materials to victims of unrest in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.
Speaking during the distribution of the relief materials, the Minister expressed deep sympathy to the families who lost loved ones and properties during the attacks, stressing that government would continue to work towards ending the violence.
“We will do everything possible to ensure justice for those who have lost their loved ones and to ensure that this protracted conflict is brought under control. The Federal Government stands by the people of Plateau State,” he said.

Dr Doro noted that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is listening to the concerns of Plateau residents and has prioritised humanitarian interventions in communities affected by violence across the country.
“As Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, I want to assure you that we are doing all we can to provide humanitarian assistance to affected communities. Since assuming office, I have been working to ensure that all states affected by unrest receive the needed support,” he added.

Drawing from his personal experience, Dr Doro said he understands the trauma caused by communal conflicts, having come from a region that also experienced similar crises.
“I know what you are going through. I want to assure you that I will be your voice at the Federal Executive Council and at the Federal Government level.
“The loss of loved ones cannot be quantified, and we cannot bring them back, but we will continue to collaborate with the Plateau State Government to arrest the situation and support affected communities,” he said.
Similarly, Dr Bernard Doro pledged continued support towards strengthening the recovery efforts and rebuilding affected communities through sustained humanitarian interventions.
He assured that the Nigerian Government is committed to restoring peace and providing humanitarian support to communities affected by the prolonged unrest.
