The Jigawa State Governor in North West Nigeria, Malam Umar Namadi has signed into law a supplementary appropriation of ₦63.478 billion for the state and its 27 Local Government Councils, directing relevant authorities to ensure effective implementation.
The supplementary budget comprises ₦46.369 billion for the state government and ₦17.109 billion for the 27 Local Government Councils.
The signing ceremony was held at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Dutse, following the passage of the appropriation bill by the Jigawa State House of Assembly.
Governor Namadi explained that “the additional appropriation became necessary following the accrual of additional revenue to the state, which was subsequently presented to the legislature for approval in line with constitutional provisions.’

He said the additional funds would create more opportunities for the state and local governments to execute development projects and improve services to the people.
“This has shown that the state has an opportunity to execute more projects, as well as also the Local Government,” the Governor said.
He commended the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly for their commitment to the legislative process and the prompt passage of the supplementary appropriation.
Governor Namadi also acknowledged the contributions of members of the State Executive Council, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, particularly the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, towards the successful preparation and passage of the supplementary budget.
He directed government institutions and officials responsible for implementation to ensure that the funds are utilised strictly in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Governor Namadi further urged the State House of Assembly to sustain its oversight responsibilities to ensure that the supplementary appropriation delivers tangible benefits to the people of Jigawa.
“We thank all of you, and I call on all of you to ensure that this budget is implemented as assented.
“And also, I want to call on the State House of Assembly to continue with their oversight function so as to ensure that this Appropriation Act benefits the people of Jigawa State,” he said.
The supplementary appropriation comes against the backdrop of the state’s initial 2026 budget of ₦901.84 billion, while the 27 Local Government Councils had a combined initial budget of ₦288.85 billion.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatim; the Secretary to the State Government; Head of Service; Chief of Staff to the Governor; members of the State Executive Council; principal officers and lawmakers of the State House of Assembly; and other senior government officials.
