Kaduna State government says education continues to receive the largest share of the state’s budget, accounting for 25 per cent of the 2026 appropriation, underscoring the administration’s resolve to improve access to quality education.
The state government pledged sustained investment in the sector, describing education as a key driver of development.
The Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, pledged while speaking at the dissemination of the 2025/2026 Annual School Census (ASC) and Out-of-School Children (OOSC) mapping reports in Kaduna.
According to her, the sustained investment has enabled the government to provide free basic education, reduce tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions, increase tertiary enrolment by more than 200 per cent, and reduce the number of out-of-school children from well over half a million to 187,719.
She described the Annual School Census and Out-of-School Children Mapping Report as critical planning tools, noting that they provide the evidence needed for informed decision-making, effective resource allocation and measurable outcomes in the education sector.
The reports, she said, tell who is missing and why, stressing that reliable data remains indispensable to designing interventions that leave no child behind.
She reaffirmed the government’s determination to continue implementing policies and programmes that expand access to quality education and improve learning outcomes for every child in Kaduna State.
