Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has urged intending pilgrims from the state to be good ambassadors of Kano and Nigeria during this year’s Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The governor gave the charge while addressing pilgrims during the inaugural airlift of Kano State pilgrims at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Governor Yusuf, who was accompanied by his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, and officials of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, cautioned the pilgrims against engaging in illegal activities or transactions that could violate the laws of Saudi Arabia.

He called on the pilgrims to use the spiritual exercise to pray for peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria.

“You are ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria. Conduct yourselves with dignity and avoid anything that is contrary to the laws of Saudi Arabia,” the governor said.
Governor Yusuf assured the pilgrims that adequate welfare arrangements had been put in place to ensure their comfort throughout their stay in the Holy Land.
He described Hajj as a divine calling and one of the most important pillars of Islam, stressing that the pilgrimage should be undertaken with sincerity and total devotion to Allah.
“Pilgrimage is Allah’s calling for the fulfillment of an important pillar of Islam, and it must be carried out with pure intention and commitment,” he stated.
Welfare Provisions
Also speaking, the Amirul Hajj and Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, alongside the Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, commended the state government for its support and welfare provisions for the pilgrims.
The officials pledged to ensure a successful and hitch-free Hajj operation for Kano pilgrims.

More than 500 intending pilgrims were airlifted in the first batch from Kano to Saudi Arabia, while five additional flights are expected to transport the remaining pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
