The Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, has appealed to customers in its franchise area to exercise patience as the company works round the clock to improve power supply in the three states.

The company attributed the current challenges in energy supply witnessed in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states to a drop in supply from the national grid.

Kano is the most populous and second biggest commercial city in Nigeria with high energy demand.

The Chief Commercial Officer of the company, Abubakar Yusuf, appealed for calm in a press briefing at the company’s headquarters in Kano State North-Western Nigeria.

He said KEDCO was aware of the “inconvenience customers in the three states were facing as a result of a drop in electricity supply within some periods, especially during the current Ramadan fasting period”.

He blamed the situation not only on the drop in power supply from the national grid but on the vandalization of the company’s installations and faulty transformers among other challenges.

The development has compelled the company to embark on load-shedding to distribute electricity to its customers,” he said.

According to him, the company has also embarked on certain measures to further ameliorate the situation, including repairing faulty transformers in order to boost power supply and distribution.

He solicited customers in the three states to settle their electricity bills as at when due, to enable the company improve its energy distribution capacity and services.
