Lagos Hosts Felabration 2026 October 12–18

Lagos will host Felabration 2026, the annual festival celebrating Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, from October 12 to 18 at the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, featuring musical performances and activities promoting his musical, political and cultural legacy.

With the theme “Who Are You” the week- long celebration will include art, fashion, dance and discussions, encouraging a new generation to connect with Fela’s ideas and enduring influence on Nigeria’s cultural history.

The Dress Fela fashion show, scheduled for Saturday, will kick off activities ahead of the main festival, highlighting the continued influence of the musician’s distinctive style on contemporary fashion and creative expression.

As announced on Felabration’s official Facebook page, the 2026 lineup will feature headline performances from Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, Made Kuti, and Seun Kuti & Egypt 80. Guest Artistes including Apala exponent Musiliu Haruna Ishola, Terry Apala, Atawewe, and Ice Prince are also among the artistes scheduled to perform at this year’s festival.

The lineup also includes Slimcase, Kleva Jay, Ceeza Milli, T.Classic, Sunkey Snoop, Soundboi and Labule, with more performers expected to be announced.

According to Yeni Kuti, co-manager of the New Afrika Shrine, Felabration continues to serve as a platform for promoting Nigerian culture and preserving the enduring legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

“It’s a very positive thing because if you come to the Shrine, you see people from all over the world. I’m glad that we are doing it and we are promoting our culture,” Kuti said.

The annual festival, established in 1998, celebrates the life, music and enduring legacy of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who remains an influential figure in African music and culture.

Fela’s legacy is particularly evident in fashion. His bold prints, loose-fitting trousers, beads and unapologetic stage presence helped create an image inseparable from his music and political convictions.

Today, designers and fans continue to reinterpret elements of his distinctive style, transforming it into a broader statement of African identity, self-expression and cultural confidence.

Felabration has evolved into a week-long cultural celebration that attracts music enthusiasts and visitors from across Nigeria and beyond. Its programme extends beyond musical performances to include art, dance, school debates and fashion.
